The Marks We Make
at Les Beaux Arts Gallery

An exhibit ran in February, 2023, at Les Beaux Art Gallery featuring the work of The Rev. Dr. Ed Horstmann. At the opening, we were invited to watch the premiere of the film “The Marks We Make,” followed by a conversation between Ed and the film’s creator, Leslie Kons. The film explores the mysteries of making: marks, shapes, and textures. What do they all add up to?

What are the movements that take place between the spirit and the canvas? “The Marks We Make” raises questions of “why” and “how” and “for whom is art created”? Through the artistic expression of film, we discuss these questions and explore the elusive presence of the creative spirit.
